Horizontal bandsaws utilize a blade consisting of a long, narrow, flexible continuous band of toothed metal. The band rides on two wheels in the same plane with a space between them. Adjustable guide arms with carbide or roller type blade guides support the blade close to the work. The blade is lowered onto the material to be cut and is stabilized by the blade guides. Horizontal bandsaws can be used for cutting a variety of materials, and are particularly useful for cutting bundles of solid as well as structural materials.
