Machine Features:

The H18A is a heavy-duty dual post horizontal bandsaw designed to provide exceptional cutting performance in multi-shift, high production environments.  This highly versatile guillotine style machine can be utilized for a wide variety of material applications, ranging from mild steels and aluminums to stainless, tool steels and more exotic high temperature alloys.  No matter what the application it can provide cut quality that is second to none.

The machine’s PLC 100 controller can be easily programmed for up to 99 different jobs.  The easy programming of the controller, and the user-friendly manual control switches make for minimum job setup time and cost effective operation. The optional full capacity hydraulic overhead bundling arms provide for efficient high production cutting of various material bundles
.

MACHINE CONSTRUCTION & FEATURES

The machine base is designed and produced with electro-welded steel components for maximum rigidity and support.
A chip removal auger and 30 US gallon coolant tank are built into the base.
Leveling bolts are located at corners of the machine.
The machine weighs a sturdy 8,500 lbs and can support a 10,000lb workload.
It’s roller infeed table and shuttle vise assembly provide material indexing of up to 34” in a single movement with length accuracy of .005” per stroke.

The machine carries a 1 1/2” blade, which is driven by a heavy-duty 2-stage gearbox and 10 HP motor, which is controlled by an AC inverter drive.  Blade speed is easily adjusted from the control console and the wide range of available band speeds allows for efficient cutting of many types of material.

Split front vise design provides material clamping on both sides of the blade and allows for short material remnant length during automatic operation.

Blade Wheels - 22” high quality cast iron wheels with heavy-duty wheel & gearbox shaft bearings.

Blade Guides - replaceable carbide insert guides housed in two heavy duty cast iron guide arms provide cut accuracy of  + / -   .002” per linear inch of material and excellent vibration dampening.  The idler side guide arm is mechanically connected to the front vise moveable jaw and moves in tandem with the opening and closing of the jaw.  This provides proper positioning of the guide arm spacing, in relation to material width, at all times.

Powered Blade Brush - driven off the blade drive wheel keeps the blade gullets clean, helping to maximize blade performance and life.

Blade Tensioning - hydraulic blade tensioning provides consistent automatic blade tension while allowing quick and easy untensioning for blade changing.

Coolant System - a centrifugal pump immersed in the 30-gallon coolant reservoir delivers ample coolant flow through carbide faced and nozzle guides. Flow cocks are present for coolant quantity adjustment.  A wash down hose with spray gun is also mounted at the front of the machine for machine / parts wash down.

Hydraulic System - a 3HP driven hydraulic pump supplies system pressure.  The system pressure through 3-position directional valves controls all vising, head up/down, blade tension, and guide arm and shuttle movement.  The pump and motor assembly and hydraulic manifold complete with all function directional valves all swing out with the hydraulic compartment door for easy service access, and minimal downtime.
Hyd-Mech’s Direct Downfeed system provides easy adjustment of both head feed rate and cutting pressure.  Feed rate readout is displayed on the machine PLC providing accurate adjustment and setup

Electrical System - the electrical control components are housed in a cabinet at the left rear side of the machine.  The operator manual switches and PLC control are conveniently located on a console in the front of the machine.  Components and wiring are neatly laid out and labeled for easy troubleshooting.

Controls  - conveniently located in the front of the machine, to the right of outfeed table, the selector switches and pushbuttons allow the operator to manually control all machine functions including emergency stops.

The Automatic cycle is controlled by the Mitsubishi PLC 100. The operator enters job information through the PLC interface keypad.  The information required will be desired part length and quantity of pieces. Up to 99 different jobs can be entered into the PLC memory, and can be called up and performed at any time.   Also, a job queue function allows up to 5 jobs to be picked from the memory, and run consecutively.

In Manual mode  - the PLC displays blade speed, feed rate and length system readout
A single part operation can also be performed while in the Manual mode.  The operator simply enters the desired part length, presses the cycle start button, starts the blade, and the machine will index that length, cut it off and raise the head back up.

In Automatic mode - the PLC displays blade speed, feed rate, part length, quantity required, and number of pieces cut.

Blade Drive - the blade drive motor is controlled by a Mitsubishi AC inverter drive.  Provides smooth operation and infinite adjustment from 50 to 350 sfm.
