HYD-MECH FULLY AUTOMATIC PIVOT STYLE
MITERING BANDSAW
MODEL - S23A
S23A Features:
The S23A is a pivot-style bandsaw designed to provide exceptional cutting performance in multi-shift, light/medium duty production environments. Based on Hyd·Mech’s popular S20 manual pivot style machine, it’s ability to miter cut from 90º to 45º makes it a great machine for large fabrication jobs.
The machine base is designed and produced with electro-welded steel components for maximum rigidity and support. A removable 6 US gallon coolant tank is built into the base.
Leveling bolts are located at corners of the machine. The machine weighs a sturdy 3,400 lbs and can support a 5,000lb workload.
It’s roller infeed table and shuttle vise assembly provide material indexing of up to 29” in a single movement with length accuracy of .005” per stroke.
The machine carries a 11/4” blade, which is driven by a heavy-duty gearbox and 5 HP motor. Controlled by a Variable Frequency Drive, the blade speed is easily adjusted through keypad pushbuttons. The band speed is infinitely variable from 75 to 350 sfm allowing for efficient cutting of many types of material.
Blade Wheels - 19” high quality cast iron wheels with heavy-duty wheel & gearbox shaft bearings.
Blade Guides - replaceable carbide insert guides housed in two heavy duty cast iron guide arms provide cut accuracy of + / - .002” per linear inch of material and excellent vibration dampening. Both guide arms are easily adjusted for proper guide arm spacing.
Powered Blade Brush - driven off the blade drive wheel keeps the blade gullets clean, helping to maximize blade performance and life.
Blade Tensioning - mechanical tensioning assembly allowing quick and easy untensioning for blade changing. Factory preset hardstop for tensioning assembly provides consistent blade tensioning.
Head Swing – accurate and quickly adjusted angle cutting is provided through an easy swing head frame. The easy to read angle scale allows for positioning of the head in 1º increments from 90º to 45º and a cam lock brake provides reliable locking in the desired position.
MACHINE CONSTRUCTION & FEATURES
Coolant System - a centrifugal pump immersed in the 6 US gallon coolant reservoir delivers ample coolant flow through carbide faced and nozzle guides. Flow cocks are present for coolant quantity adjustment. A wash down hose with spray gun is also mounted at the front of the machine for machine / parts wash down.
Hydraulic System - a 1 HP driven hydraulic pump supplies system pressure. The system pressure through 3-position directional valves controls all vising, head up/down, and shuttle movement. The pump and motor assembly and hydraulic manifold complete with all function directional valves all swing out with the hydraulic compartment door for easy service access, and minimal downtime.
Hyd-Mech’s Direct Downfeed system provides easy adjustment of both head feed rate and cutting pressure. Feed rate readout is displayed on the machine PLC providing accurate adjustment and setup.
Electrical System - the electrical control components are on a pedestal base mounted to the saw. The operator manual switches and Sequencer or optional PLC control are conveniently located in the cabinet. Components and wiring are neatly laid out and labeled for easy troubleshooting.
Controls - conveniently located in the front of the machine, the selector switches and pushbuttons on the standard Sequencer controlled machine allow the operator to manually control all powered machine functions including emergency stops. With the optional PLC 100 control, all machine functions are controlled through soft touch pushbuttons on the PLC Interface.
The Automatic cycle is controlled by the Sequencer controller or the optional Mitsubishi PLC 100.
With the Sequencer: the operator enters all job information through the Sequencer interface keypad. The information required will be desired part length and quantity of pieces.
With the PLC 100: the operator enters all job information through the PLC interface keypad. The information required will be desired part length and quantity of pieces. Up to 999 different jobs can be entered into the PLC memory, and can be called up and performed at any time. Also, a job queue function allows up to 10 jobs to be picked from the memory, and run consecutively.
In Manual mode - The PLC & the Sequencer displays will give blade speed and length system readout. Both controllers also allow for a ‘one piece’ operation in the Manual mode;
The operator simply enters the desired part length, presses the cycle start button, starts the blade, and the machine will index that length, cut it off and raise the head back up.
In Automatic mode – Both controllers display blade speed, part length, quantity required, piece count. With either controller the machine will shut down when the required number of pieces has been cut.
Overhead Bundling - hydraulically powered overhead clamps that move down on the material from above. Its downward (clamping) and upward (unclamping) movement are controlled and timed with the opening and closing of the side vise. Very effective and necessary for bundle cutting various material shapes & sizes. Can also be effective in dampening of cutting vibration.
Out of Stock Switch - mounted on the shuttle vise, when the vise closes and no material is between its jaws, the machine hydraulics will shut down. (The cut in progress at the time of the switch being tripped is allowed to be finished before shut down occurs)
This option allows the machine to be left unattended with no danger of the machine continuing to cycle with no material left.
Variable Vise Pressure - allows for adjustment of the clamping pressure of both vises. Recommended for thin wall tubing and other light material applications where standard vise pressure may deform the material.
Blade Breakage Switch – limit switch assembly that is actuated when the blade breaks and will shut the machine off.
(This function is provided for as a standard feature with the PLC 100 option)
Workstop - adjustable material stop that can be set up to provide a measured position of up to 40” from the blade.
Worklight - 120V worklight positioned on the electrical cabinet on top of the head. Flexible mounting stem allows easy light positioning over work piece / cutting area.
Mitsubishi PLC - programmable controller allows for up to 999 jobs to be stored in memory with programmed job information including length and pieces required. PLC 300 will store 10 jobs in queue.
Mist Lubrication System – air mist system providing blade lubrication and cooling. Alternative to standard flood system.
