MACHINE CONSTRUCTION & FEATURES
Machine Base - The machine base is designed and produced with electro-welded steel components for maximum rigidity and support. The saw head carriage is guided by high quality linear ways and bearings. A 12-gallon coolant tank is built into the base.
Controls - Conveniently located on an articulating console on the front of the machine, the selector switches and pushbuttons allow the operator to manually control all machine functions including emergency stops.
The M-40 PLC controller controls the Automatic cycle.
The operator enters job information through the PLC interface keypad. The information required will be desired part length, required angle at each end of the part and required piece count. Up to 999 different jobs can be entered into the PLC memory, and can be called up and performed at any time. Also, a job queue function allows up to 12 jobs to be picked from the memory, and run consecutively.
In Manual mode - The PLC displays blade speed, feed rate, length and angle system readout A single part operation can also be performed while in the Manual mode. The operator simply enters the desired part length, presses the cycle start button, starts the blade, and the machine will index that length, cut it off and retract the head.
As well as the single part operation the PLC has an angle ‘go to’ function, which allows the operator to enter a desired angle and have the machine automatically move the head to that angle
.
In Automatic mode - The PLC displays blade speed, feed rate, part length, quantity required, number of pieces cut, and angle information.
Cutting libraries:
Saw Head - Electrical head swing positioning from 60º left to 60º right featuring hydraulic angle lock.
5 HP Motor - Heavy-duty gearbox and 5 HP, AC inverter drive controlled motor. Blade speed is easily adjusted from the control console and the wide range of available band speeds allows for efficient cutting of many types of material.
Blade Drive - The blade drive motor is controlled by a Mitsubishi AC inverter drive. Provides smooth operation and infinite adjustment from 65 to 385 SFM.
Blade Wheels - High quality cast iron 19” wheels with heavy-duty wheel & gearbox shaft bearings.
Adjustable Head Cant - 3 Degree Canted head (NEW Adjustable Saw head that can cut at 90 deg and be adjusted to cut at 3 deg cant) – the machine is capable of cutting with the saw head at 90 degrees and the saw head with a 3 degree cant. The Quick Change Column is standard on the new VW18 APC. This feature allows the saw head column to be set either upright at 90 Deg or at a 3° forward cant.
Blade Guides - Replaceable carbide insert guides housed in two heavy duty guide arms provide cut accuracy of + / - .002” per linear inch of material. A mechanically adjusted upper guide arm allows for easy adjustment for proper guide arm spacing.
Vising - Full stroke hydraulic vise.
Laser Light - Projects a line of laser light along the blade. This feature can be used for fast length measurements or as a cut marker.
Shuttle Feed - Heavy Duty Shuttle Vise assembly mounted on two linear bearings provide material indexing of up to 30” in a single movement with a length accuracy of .005” per stroke. The shuttle is positioned by a ball screw and stepper motor. The shuttle vise is opened and closed by a hydraulic cylinder.
Powered Blade Brush - Driven off the blade drive wheel the 3” wire brush keeps the blade gullets clean, helping to maximize blade performance and life.
Blade Tensioning – Mechanically adjusted blade tensioning. Allows for quick and easy un-tensioning for blade changing. LED Band tension is displayed on the control panel.
Coolant System - A centrifugal pump immersed in the 12-gallon coolant reservoir delivers ample coolant flow to the cutting surface. A flow control valve is used to adjust the coolant quantity.
Electrical System - The electrical control components are housed in a console at the front of the machine. The operator manual switches and PLC control are conveniently located on an articulating console positioned at the front of the saw. Components and wiring are neatly laid out and labeled for easy troubleshooting.
Blade Breakage Switch – Function of the blade tension pressure gauge/switch, will shut the machine off when the blade breaks during operation.
Overhead Bundling - Hydraulically powered overhead clamp that moves down on the material from above. Its downward (clamping) and upward (unclamping) movement are controlled and timed with the opening and closing of the side vise. Very effective, and necessary for bundle cutting various materials. Can also be effective in dampening of cutting vibration. (Capacity limited to 12” at 90 degrees, 10.25” at 60 degrees)
Variable Vise Pressure - Allows for adjustment of the clamping pressure of vise(s). Recommended for thin wall tubing and other light material applications where standard vise pressure may deform the material.
Mist Lubrication System – Air mist system providing blade lubrication and cooling. Alternative to standard flood system.
Optional Second Main Vise- Located on the out feed side of the blade providing extra clamping.
